Gutter & Downpipe Repairs in Stilbaai

On a house that stands empty for months, a leaking gutter joint or a downpipe that has come loose can drip onto the same wall all winter. By the time anyone sees the damp patch, the repair has become a bigger job. We fix gutters and downpipes properly, so the house stays dry while you're away.

Why small gutter faults matter more here

Rain falls in Stilbaai throughout the year, with the wettest spells in autumn and spring. In a house you live in, you'd notice water pouring off a corner in the first storm. In a holiday house, nobody is there to see it. The water runs down the same stretch of wall, soaks the plaster, lifts the paint and works its way into the window frames and the foundation.

Salt air is the other factor. Close to the sea, galvanised gutters and steel fixings rust faster than they would inland, brackets corrode at the screws, and the joints between sections are usually the first place to go.

What we fix

  • Leaking joints, corners and end caps resealed, or the connector replaced where the seal has perished.
  • Rusted sections cut out and replaced, in PVC, colour-coated steel or aluminium.
  • Corroded or missing brackets replaced with coastal-appropriate fixings, and the fall reset so water reaches the outlet.
  • Downpipes re-clipped, re-joined or replaced, with the discharge led away from the walls.
  • Blocked outlets cleared and loose outlets refitted.
  • Gutter guards fitted where coastal bush and garden trees keep filling the gutters.

Before the wet months, or before you arrive

The best time to repair gutters on a holiday house is before the autumn rains, so the house goes into the wetter months with every joint sealed and every downpipe draining. The second-best time is before you come down for the season, so you arrive to a dry house rather than a list of jobs. Tell us when suits you and we'll book the work around it.

Is it worth repairing?

If most of a gutter is sound, a repair is the sensible choice. If rust has spread along the whole run, or the same joints keep failing after every repair, we'll tell you straight that another repair won't last, rather than sell you one.

Pricing

Small repairs start from R650 on a single-storey home, with materials quoted as part of the job. Bigger repairs and double storeys are quoted after a look. Send a photo of the problem on WhatsApp for a first idea of the cost.

Areas we cover

We work across Stilbaai on both sides of the Goukou River, in Stilbaai West and Stilbaai East, as well as Jongensfontein and Melkhoutfontein. Further along the coast or inland? Ask us. We can often fit it in.

Gutter Repairs FAQs, Stilbaai

Do I need to be there for the repair?

No. Gutter and downpipe repairs are done from outside. We need access to the property, and we'll agree the details with you when you book.

Why do gutters rust so quickly here?

Salt carried on the sea breeze settles in the gutter with leaves and sand and keeps the metal damp. Joints, cut edges and screw holes go first. PVC and aluminium don't rust, so replacement sections in those materials last longer near the sea.

Can you connect a downpipe to a rainwater tank?

Yes. We can route a downpipe into a tank with a leaf screen at the inlet.

Do you also clean gutters?

Yes. A clean often comes first, because leaks and rust hide under a gutter full of leaves and sand. See gutter cleaning in Stilbaai.
